
John C. Petrovski serves as President of Picerne Capital and is a member of The Picerne Group's Executive Committee. He oversees originations, credit and portfolio activities of Picerne Capital, which opportunistically purchases commercial real estate loans and makes mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments that may be held through maturity.
Prior to joining Picerne Capital in 2008 Mr. Petrovski spent six years as Managing Director and Group Head of the Real Estate Finance division of Merrill Lynch Capital. In that capacity John led a team of 80 people in 10 offices across the U.S., originating over $3BN in annual investment volume in first mortgages, mezzanine loans and preferred equity commercial real estate investments held on Merrill Lynch's balance sheet.
From 1987 through 2001 Mr. Petrovski held a number of positions with Heller Financial, ultimately serving as Group President for the real estate group. While at Heller, Mr. Petrovski lead a team of 160 people in 11 offices throughout North America and Japan and oversaw $1.6B in annual originations and the management of a $3.3B commercial real estate portfolio. Prior to becoming Group President, Mr. Petrovski held various positions in the real estate group in portfolio and asset management and served as Associate Counsel in the Legal Department.
Prior to joining Heller Financial Mr. Petrovski was Associate Counsel at Katten, Muchin, Zavis specializing in real estate and finance, and held the position of Research Engineer for Amoco Oil.
Mr. Petrovski received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan Law School and a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois in Chemical Engineering.
Mr. Petrovski serves on the board of The Graaskamp Center for Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has served on the boards of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (Chicago Chapter), National Multi-Housing Council and the President's Council of the Real Estate Round Table.
